Data controller

DNAHelper is operated by Victor Wickström, sole proprietorship in Denmark, postal address Søndre vagt 21, 3500 Værløse, Denmark. The business is currently not VAT-registered and therefore has no CVR number. Contact for privacy and data questions: .

Never send anyone — including us — your raw DNA file by email. Privacy questions can be answered without you sending genetic data.

What DNAHelper does

DNAHelper analyzes raw data files from consumer DNA tests directly in your browser and shows genetic traits and research associations. The service is an educational tool — not a medical test.

Local analysis — your raw DNA file

  • The raw DNA file is read and analyzed locally in your browser.
  • The raw file is never uploaded to DNAHelper's servers.
  • The complete genotype map is never stored on our servers. It is stored locally in your browser so DNA Chat works even after a reload.

Local storage in your browser

  • Cookies: we set no cookies — neither tracking nor analytics.
  • localStorage: anonymous 24-hour access status and technical settings — never genetic data.
  • IndexedDB: a snapshot of your computed analysis results and genotype map, so results and DNA Chat work again after a reload.
  • All of the above exists only on your device. Clear browser data or use the app's clear function to remove it.

Anonymised operational statistics

When internal measurement is enabled we count aggregate events — such as a visit occurring, an analysis starting or a trial beginning — with coarse summary context only (referrer class like "search" or "social", device type, language and campaign tag). No cookies, no identifiers and no per-person profile — just daily counters. Genetic data, filenames, content and answers are never included. Automated traffic (crawlers, test tooling) is not counted.

The free period

24 hours of full access starts after a successful analysis. It requires no registration, email or payment card. An anonymous, signed timestamp is used to verify the period against our server — it contains no identity and no genetic information.

DNA Chat — optional feature with explicit consent

DNA Chat is off until you enable it yourself in the app. Before your first question a consent dialog is shown, and you can revoke consent at any time in settings — nothing more is sent after that.

If you consent, your question is sent together with a small selection of relevant genetic variants (rsIDs and genotypes) via DNAHelper's server to external AI providers to answer the question — currently DeepSeek (China) and NVIDIA-hosted models (USA). Your raw DNA file, complete genotype map and result summary are never sent. Note that these providers process data outside the EU/EEA and that their terms may allow content to be used to improve their services — so only send what you are comfortable sharing, and do not enable the feature unless you accept that.

Account and payment (optional)

  • Sign-in is passwordless via email (one-time code) on our own infrastructure. We store your email address and a technical user ID.
  • Stripe handles payment and subscription on purchase. Stripe never receives genetic data, analysis results or chat content.
  • We store no genetic information in your account.

Logging

Our servers do not log raw DNA data, genetic variants, genotypes or analysis results. DNA Chat forwarding happens only after your explicit consent (see above).

Language translation on the marketing pages

Pages on dnahelper.com may be translated automatically based on your browser's language setting, and you can switch language manually at any time. Translation runs via our server with an external AI service (DeepSeek or an NVIDIA-hosted model). Only the public page text is sent — never your DNA file, your results or account details.

Your rights and contact

Since analysis results exist only on your device, you can delete them yourself by clearing browser data or using the app's clearing function (the "Data on this device" panel in the app).

If you have an account you can delete it yourself in the app under "Data on this device" — this removes your email address and all sign-ins from our servers. An active subscription must be cancelled first so billing is never left running without an account. You can also write to us and we will delete the account for you.

For account, payment or privacy questions, see support & contact or write to . Do not send DNA data or other sensitive information by email.

DNA analysis runs locally in your browser — your raw DNA file is not uploaded. DNA Chat is optional and off by default; genetic information is sent only after your explicit consent and may then be processed outside the EU/EEA. More about DNA Chat and privacy.
