Analyze your 23andMe data in DNAHelper
If you have taken a DNA test with 23andMe, you can request your raw data file in your account and analyze it in DNAHelper — no new test needed.
1. Request the raw data from 23andMe
- Sign in at you.23andme.com/tools/data (or via your profile name top right → Resources → Browse Raw Genotyping Data → Download, or Settings → 23andMe Data → View).
- Confirm the birthdate of the profile whose data you want to download.
- Read the information, tick the box and click Submit request.
- 23andMe emails you when the file is ready — from minutes to a few days.
- Follow the link in the email, verify the birthdate again and download the file.
2. The file you get
You get a .zip file whose name starts with genome. The zip contains a text file (.txt) with your genetic markers — drop the zip straight into DNAHelper, it is unpacked automatically.
3. Analyze the file in DNAHelper
Open app.dnahelper.com and pick the file. The entire analysis — parsing, scoring and display — runs locally in your browser. Your raw data file is never uploaded.
4. Your 24-hour trial
The trial starts automatically when the analysis completes — not when you open the page or request the export. You get full access for 24 hours with no registration, email or card. A local summary stays on your device afterwards.
Good to know about 23andMe
- The export is a request, not an instant download — waiting time varies from minutes to days.
- 23andMe states the raw data passed a general quality review but that only a subset of markers is individually validated — it is intended for information, not medical use.
- The file version can differ depending on when you tested. DNAHelper reads the common raw data formats (.txt/.zip).
Limitations
DNAHelper shows genetic traits and research associations for education — not medical diagnoses or advice. What you see depends on which markers your 23andMe file contains.
